IIn 2003 the opening light to the window in the south chancel wall was found to be
damaged. The delicate repair work was carried out by Graham Dowding of Nailsworth
Such were the stages by which the church reached it's present form.
Points to Notice
On the stone bench are the broken remains of a 12th century grave slab with floriated
cross and incised tapering stem. It was found, during refacing in 1963, built into
the North wall of the tower. It had been taken by 15th century builders from the
floor of the Norman church and used in the repairs to the tower when the buttresses
were added. It would have marked the grave of either a Rector, or of one of the Chandos-de
Bagendon Manor Lords.
